Causes of World War 2


I believe that Hitler was one of the greatest causes of World War 2. Although there are many other reasons, he was definitely one of them. Another reason was the Treaty of Versailles. This was the treaty that was signed at the end of World War 1. This treaty outlined the rules that Germany must follow because of their defeat by Britain and France. Many Germans were angered by the treaty, for most of the rules in the treaty were unfair and Germany lost a great amount of wealth.

b) Use contextual knowledge to show causes of World War 2. For causes mentioned in source, use contextual knowledge to expand on the points. For causes not mentioned in source, use contextual knowledge to provide the points.

c) Make a judgement. Is Hitler the main cause? What do you think?

If you think that he is the main cause, then your answer should focus about his ROLE in bringing about the war. You should also provide other reasons to show that there are other reasons but all not as important as Hitler.

If you think that he is NOT the main cause, then your answer should focus on the OTHER reasons that brought about the war. You should also provide the role of Hitler but main focus should be on the other causes for example the failure of the Treaty of versailles.

d) Conclude your answer by a brief summary of your points and a reiteration of the main cause as explained by you.
